What we’ve been up to…
Our website and social media pages may have been quiet, but as for group activity, we’ve been far from it!
Visits to activity centres, hikes, residentials, campfires, cooking, partying, lego competitioning, archery, shooting, go carting, grass sledging, ice-skating, crate stacking, climbing, bouldering and exploring locally, are just some of the brilliant activities our group has been up to!
Christmas party!
On the 8th of December we had our end of term Christmas Party!
We enjoyed music, food and dance at the hall, and we even invited mums and dads along too!
At the end of the party, the children let our leaders know what activities they want to do next year! Some fantastic ideas shared!
Cubs lego competition!
Lego competition? I hear you ask, is exactly as it sounds. It’s a competition for building lego. I’ll be honest, I never knew lego competitions where a ‘thing’, but our cubs certainly do and we certainly have a few master builders in our midst!
Ultimately, we had a fantastic day of building lego with other cubs in the District, all thanks to our very own super Cub leader Jordan, who organised this brilliant event with his dad for all these cubs. We are very lucky at Preston Central to have such a brilliant and diverse team!
Carols at the care home!
As a group we’re keen to do more to support our local community, and be more visible out and about,
Our Beaver leaders have lead the way by joining with another scout Group to sing carols to residents of a local carehome!
We’re very proud of Louise, Naomi and Hannah who got rocking around the Christmas tree with Preston’s senior citizens. Well done team!
Beaver santa sleepover!
For our beavers, it is all about the adventure, and sleepovers are some of the best! This sleepover was no exception!
Christingle making (and eating the sweets of course!), mask colouring, science creating and biscuit decorating fun. All with other beavers from across the District.
Cubs Adventure Day!
Our cubs live for outdoor adventure activities. This autumn our cubs took part in adventurous activities day at Bibby’s farm organised for all cubs across the county.
They got to take part in a range of fantastic outdoor based adventures including archery, challenge course, nerf gun shooting, grass sledging, cave bus, go-karting and parachute games.
Group adventure evening!
In October we arranged a group visit to Bibby’s farm activity centre for an Archery, shooting and cave bus session for the group, led by fantastic local instructors.
It was fantastic to be able to take part in these activities!
Preston Central’s Winter residential
We are a Scout group that likes to go on adventures all together. Our winter camp is one of our flagship annual events. This year we booked in at Silderhelm Scout Activity Centre and enjoyed two days of fantastic activities whilst enjoying the comfort of a heated building and comfy beds to shelter from the elements.
On the Friday evening we played a short widegame and then played some fun indoor games. On Satursday we took part in some challenge activities, worked towards our outdoor challenges badges, went on a hike. Some of the Scouts hiked up through the nature reserve and to the top of a hill. The Scouts spent more time by the reserve than actually hiking! getting inches close to a robin and bird-watching from the hides. The beavers and cubs did a local treck.
Returning to camp we enjoyed a hearty jacket potato tea, Jordan and Michael led a camp-fire for us all, and of course we enjoyed smores!! Sunday we enjoyed doing some badge work and played an outdoor team wide game, the classic board game cludo with a twist! We had to chase down the leaders who had the answer cards, this was great fun!
