Being a Squirrel
When you join Squirrels, every week you will gather in groups to hop, skip and jump your way through lots of different games and activities – achieving anything you set your mind to, and you will have lots of fun along the way.
Activities and what you’ll get up to!
A fun introduction to Scouting and outdoor activities. Go on a scavenger hunt. gaze up at the stars and enjoy your first campfire. Spend time learning about you and the world around you by thinking about what makes you unique, learn about the people around you and where you live, meet some new people, and discover more about your community. You will work together with other squirrels to play games, make choices, and learn to be the best friend you can be.
Awards
Completing awards challenges you to do more, learn more and be more. See what’s on offer and start your journey to the top.
Squirrels Promise
As a values based movement we all make the ‘The Promise’ an oath that helps us to be our best
Moving up to beavers
Eventually, it’ll be time to say farewell to Squirrels and embrace your next big adventure. We do lots of linking activities as a group and will meet some of the beavers before you move up.
Uniform and badge placement
You don’t need a uniform to join. But once you’ve settled in, you’ll start speedily earning badges, and you’ll need to know where to put them!
Squirrel Leaders
All of our leaders are trained volunteers, working to make sure Scouting is safe, inclusive and accessible. Some lead the Drey week in and week out. Others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills.
