What are subs?
We ask our members to pay a monthly subscription of £12 per head.
What are subs for?
The subscription fee contributes to the overheads of running the group. They include a membership fee passed down from head quarters, insurances, materials for running weekly activities and costs involved with the running of the group.
What other fees do you have?
We have a join fee of £15 which covers your child’s first neckerchief and joining badges.
Day and weekend events / activities are costed and charged separately in advance. Typically a weekend residential will cost anywhere between £25 and £45 per head depending on the activities planned, resources required and if transport is provided.
How do parents make payments?
We use a system called ‘Online Scout Manager’ to process all payments. When a parent is given access, they will be prompted to create payments as needed.
We have an online shop which is used to pay the joining fee, and other items.
Finance is never a barrier to Scouting
We have a policy built on principles of privacy and confidentially to provide financial assistance to enable children to participate in any activity or event, regardless of family financial situation. We understand it is not easy to ask for help when you need it, and we’ve designed a policy to help.
Refund policy
We often have to pay activity / residential related costs in advance. This means if your child is registered to attend an activity, and don’t cancel the booking before the booking deadline, you will still be expected to pay the FULL contribution, even if your child does not attend.
The executive committee will consider refund requests on a case by case basis, email GSL@prestoncentralscouts.org.uk to request a refund.
